Terms and Conditions for NPal eServices
1. The NPal eServices are Ngee Ann Polytechnic eServices and are accessible to staff.
Access Mode
2. Staff can only access the NPal eServices using the following network connections:
a. The purpose of the service as indicated on the website of this eService and or
b. Campus Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection (via wireless LAN)
c. Internet VPN connection via Internet Service Provider (ISP e.g. Singtel)
Operating Hours
3. The operating hours :Monday to Saturday from 7:00 am to 12:00 am (midnight)
Recommended Browsers
4. The NPal eServices website supports the following browsers:
a. Google Chrome 35 or above
b. Firefox 30 or above
c. Edge 20 or above
d. Safari 8 or above (on Mac)
Data Protection
5. The NPal eServices provides a host of corporate, personal and student information. To safeguard the security and proper use of these information, basic data protection principles should be adhered to:
a. Security Policy. This system is for the use of authorised users only. Individuals using this computer system without authority, or in excess of their authority, are subjected to having all of their activities on this system monitored and recorded by system personnel. Under any possible evidence of criminal activity, system personnel may provide the evidence of such monitoring to law enforcement officials.
b. Accountability. Individuals given access right to information shall be accountable for the compliance with the other data protection principles listed below.
c. Identifying Purposes. The purposes for which personal and student data are collected shall be to facilitate the delivery of education related services to the students within Ngee Ann Polytechnic and not any other purposes.
d. Limiting use, Disclosure and Retention. Personal and student data shall not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected. Personal data shall be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.
e. Safeguards. Personal and student data shall be protected by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data. The security safeguard shall protect data against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. All staff must be aware of the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of personal and student data. In addition, care shall be taken in the disposal or destruction of personal data, to prevent unauthorized parties from gaining access to the data.
Restriction of Services
6. Except as otherwise provided, the contents of the NPal eServices shall not be reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted or otherwise distributed in any way, without prior approval of the respective Directors. For example, Director Academic Affairs and the respective Academic Directors for student data, Director Human Resource Office for Staff data, and CFO for NP's Finance-related data. Printing of sensitive personal information and materials is strictly prohibited unless authorized by respective Directors.
