1. Do I have to pay for the software?
You do not have to pay for the software. Ngee Ann Polytechnic provides licensed software to students throughout their course of study.
2. Why must I download the "setup.exe" client program to install software? Can't I just download the software installers directly?
The client program allows you to register your notebook (for Windows notebooks only). After registering, you can view the software required for your course along with the installation guides. As such, you do not have to download multiple installers from various sites as everything is embedded within the program for your convenience.
3. What is NPNet password?
The NPNet password mentioned on the software guides refer to the Course Registration password on the Acceptance of Offer letter.
4. Can I install software on multiple notebooks?
Each student can register and install software on ONE notebook only.
5. Do I have to buy a notebook from the authorised suppliers before I can download software?
You can purchase a notebook from the authorised suppliers or your preferred suppliers. Please ensure that the notebook meets the minimum specifications for your course.
6. I bought my notebook from the authorised supplier. Does it come preloaded with the necessary software for my course?
No, you need to register your notebook and install software by following the instructions on this portal.
7. I have an old notebook and I am not sure if it can be used for my course. Can you advise?
You may check if the notebook meets the minimum specifications for your course.
8. I have difficulty with software installation. Where can I get help?
You may write to itcare@connect.np.edu.sg for assistance. Please include your name, course, student ID and screenshots of the error message in your email.
9. How long will it take for me to download the software required for my course?
This will depend on various factors such as the speed of your Internet connection, the type of software required for your course and the speed of your notebook's processor, RAM and hard drive capabilities. Typically, it may take you anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours to get the software downloaded and installed.
10. Is there a deadline for me to download the software?
You are strongly encouraged to download and install the software on your own before the start of April semester.
11. I misplaced the notebook that I initially registered with. How do I register my replacement notebook?
Please submit an online declaration for replacement and indicate the reason. Once done, email the screenshot of your submission to itcare@connect.np.edu.sg. Upon verification by the ServiceDesk, your old notebook will be de-registered. Proceed to register and install the required software on your new notebook.
