How to identify an email hoax?

Is this an email from Ngee Ann Polytechnic?

Examine the email address in the "From" or "Sent by" field.

Note that the sender's email address was from an external source that did not end with @np.edu.sg

The mail was from Yahoo account.


Mails originating from NP accounts end with @np.edu.sg

Always look out for the name in the "From" or "Sent by" field.

When you are in doubt, do not click on any links in the email.

Do not reply to Spam Emails

When you reply to spam email, it is a confirmation that your email address is valid and often leads to more spam.

To stop such spam, you are advised to do the following:

  • Ignore any instructions given in the spam email.
  • Do not click on any of the links in the spam email.
