IT Security Awareness Briefing 2016

All staff members are required to attend IT Security Awareness briefing at least once every 2 years. Therefore, CC is once again organizing the IT Security Awareness briefing for staff to attend in December.  The briefing will reinforce the importance of IT security, how to handle classified information, tips on how to identify spam/scams, phishing emails, etc.

To know more, please enroll or walk-in to attend any ONE of the following sessions.

Enrollment Steps:

  • Access NPal2 ELM
  • Search for the course via the following navigation route and enter the programme title in the search box

IT Security Awareness Briefing NPal Registration

  • Click on the 'Enroll' button to view the activity options/sessions
  • Select the session you want to attend and click on the 'Enroll' button
  • Complete the 'Learning Objectives' and 'Performance Expectations'
  • Click the 'Submit Enrollment' button.

Important notes:

  • Submission of enrolment equates to successful enrolment as no approval is required.
  • Please note the session you've enrolled as no email confirmation will be sent

Security Measures When Sending Personal Data through Email

When sending out any personal data through email, staff have to ensure the following steps are taken:

  • Place personal data in electronic file (e.g. Word or Excel) and protect with strong password consisting a mixture of uppercase, lowercase and special characters. 
  • Send the password in a separate email.  If feasible, send the password via a separate medium, e.g. SMS or phone call whereby the identity of the receiving party can be verified.
  • Double-check the recipient list and email addresses. Do use mailing list for regular communications.
  • Use BCC (blind carbon copy) feature when sending to a large list of recipients.

If you have not downloaded the latest mSTAFF mobile app for staff, do so quickly. The features available in this current version include:

  • Staff Directory – Search, view, and contact colleagues
  • Leave Applications
  • Leave Approval – View and approve leave applications
  • Teaching Claims Acknowledgement
  • More in the pipeline

The mobile app is available on both Android and iOS platforms. Colleagues may access the download and installation guide by clicking HERE.
The app is not available on Apple AppStore because Apple does not accept Intranet applications.
