Social Engineering Threats

Social engineering is a con method used by hackers to trick computer users to compromise IT security and allow intrusion. Please take note of these social engineering attacks which are commonly used by cyber criminals:

  • Baiting is when an attacker leaves behind a malware-infected device such as a thumbdrive for a potential victim. Do not use storage media from unknown sources.

  • Pretexting is when an attacker pretends to legitimately request for personal or identity data. Do not release your data freely. Call to check if in doubt.

  • Spear Phishing is a method used to target a specific person or an organisation to uncover confidential data through deception such as scam email and instant messaging. Be suspicious of email from unknown sources.

  • Scam is an unsolicited junk mail which is commonly used for Pretexting and Phishing.

Auto-Configuration for NPWirelessX

An automatic tool for setting up the NPWirelessX is now available for Windows notebooks. It can also be used to repair corrupted NPWirelessX settings.
