Full Disk Encryption Project

The privacy of your files may be compromised when you lose your computer or send it for repair.

To offer better protection to the files in your computer's hard drive, there'll be a campus-level project at the end of Sep to enable encryption on staff computers. Only computers that support encryption will be enabled.

A project schedule will be sent to eligible staff. Please back up important data and files prior your appointment.

Unlock NPNet Account

Note that smart phones, tablets or another computer that use your NPNet credentials may cause your NPNet account to get locked.

This happens when you change the password on the computer but not in the Apps on your mobile devices, eg. the stored NPNet passwords for NPWirelessx and F5 VPN on your mobile devices.

After you've changed your NPNet password, your mobile device needs to be updated with the new NPNet password, else your device may keep attempting to login until your account is locked.

Always disconnect network drives mapped using your NPNet account on another computer and remember to update the NPWirelessx password on your computer and smart devices immediately after changing your NPNet password.

If you do not use the NPWirelessx on your smart phone or tablet, please tap on 'Forget Network' for the NPWirelessx connection.

Note that locked NPNet accounts will automatically unlock itself after 20 minutes. Alternatively, staff could seek assistance from the IT Helpdesk to unlock their account.

"Savers" Adware

If your web browser is constantly "under attack" from pop-ups displaying discount coupons or savers ads, adware such as "Continue To Save" and "Save On" may have infected your computer.

"Savers" adware are often bundled with shareware or freeware that requires your consent to a User Agreement before installation.

Always pay attention when installing free downloaded apps and opt for the customize installation to exclude suspicious add-ons that comes with the app.

To remove suspected adware, download a reputable anti-adware tool like "malwarebytes" to scan your computer or visit the IT Helpdesk for assistance.


System Maintenance

NPNet Password Change/ Reset Service
During the scheduled maintenance, staff will not be able to change or reset their NPNet account password.


Sat, 6 Sep 2014 8am to 6pm

During the scheduled maintenance, internet access from campus will be slow.


Sat, 6 Sep 2014 2pm to 6pm

Wireless Network
The wireless network will be upgraded. During the upgrade there will be interruptions to NPWireless and NPWirelessx on campus.


Sun, 21 Sep 2014 1pm to 4pm

NPal2 Services
Scheduled maintenance for NPal2. All NPal2 Services will be unavailable to staff and students during the maintenance.
